Fundraising Information

Hi Everyone, I hope everyone has had a great 2023 so far.  It's been another busy year on the farm as I continue to figure out the pros and cons of growing fruits and veggies in the tropical climate of our underground greenhouse.  The greenhouse is now complete with back up heating installed.  No more staying up on cold winter nights to replace the small propane tank on our previous source of heating and everything is growing great - even our bananas!  The citrus, figs, passion fruit, guavas, mangos, avocados and all other kinds of fruit, veggies and flowers are doing amazing.  Our large variety of hot peppers are loving their year round home making our exploration of new hot sauces and recipes very productive.

A lot of prep work for the market building was completed this fall however the contractor did not manage to get to the site once we finally secured our building permit so we are first on the roster for the upcoming spring building season.  Our new sign will be erected shortly (watch for it as you zip by), the parking lot will be there to welcome you and the requirement for paving our entrance to the highway is in progress.  So many permits.....so little time (lol)!   We are so looking forward to opening the market so that we can reconnect with everyone in person.  Your dreams of gourmet tacos - and other great offerings - are not far away.
In the meantime, we are launching our 3rd Annual Give a Gift Fundraiser for the local youth centre in Flesherton - The Hanley Institute - and The Ronald MacDonald House in London, Ontario.  We have partnered again with Alysha Kuglin,Osbourne Books at Home to offer the opportunity for you to buy books that will go directly to the children and their siblings at Ronald MacDonald House this Christmas as well as other direct ways to donate to these two amazing organizations.
I have attached the Fundraising Poster for your information.  Please note due to past feedback we are not doing direct donations through the MacDonald House  website this year as this method only allows people to use a charge card for donations.  Instead we are accepting all donations by etransfer to whitepinesff@gmail.com .  Any donation over $20 will receive a tax receipt either from Ronald MacDonald House or from The Hanley Institute once received.  Our Toonie Jars will start hitting the street today - watch for them out in the community and if you know a location that should have one, just email me and we will deliver one right away.
As I am writing this email I am looking at the snow on the trees.  Pleasant sight for some I am sure, but for me getting through winter means spring and seeing you all again - so let the snow begin!  Hopefully it will get you into the Holiday giving spirit!  See you at the luncheon on Sunday.
You have a great day!
Ben
